So I have a set of “Songo” cards for about every holiday–Christmas being no exception. I love these games in general, but they are particularly great to have on hand for days (like today for me) when you are a bit under the weather and unable to sing full voice.
I decided to take advantage of the fact that most Christmas songs have been recorded as piano solos, string quartets, and even orchestras. I made a list of songs (below) I wanted to included, plugged them into an online bingo card generator and then created this playlist on spotify with the instrumental versions of the songs. I figured this would add a challenging element–especially for my rehab residents, not to mention these instrumental covers are beautiful and generally very relaxing. The long introductions and variations of the melody require attention and focus to discern the song title. The game is fun and facilitates social interaction and cognitive challenges–and we all know how much geriatrics love bingo.
